A temporary denture is a simple removable plate worn while your mouth heals. It is made to be adjusted, relined and eventually replaced, not to last for years.
An immediate denture is one type: it is made before your teeth are removed and fitted straight after, on the same day.
For a patient flying back to the UK, the months between visits are the part to plan for. A temporary denture means those months are spent with teeth, not gaps.
Because our laboratory is on site, it can be prepared ahead of your extraction appointment and adjusted before you leave.
After a tooth comes out, the gum and bone shrink as they heal. A temporary denture is built with that in mind.
We examine your mouth, take X-rays, and confirm which teeth need removing. We also talk through what comes after the temporary denture, whether that’s a permanent denture or implants. Media: photograph, consultation.
Impressions and bite records are taken while your teeth are still in place. Your temporary denture is then made from them, with a shade and shape chosen to look natural from day one. Media: photograph, impression taking.
Your teeth are removed and the temporary denture is fitted straight away. You don’t leave without teeth, and the denture protects the gums while they begin to heal. Media: photograph, fitting appointment.
Shortly after fitting, we check how your gums are healing and ease any spots where the denture is rubbing. We also go over cleaning, eating and how long to wear it. Media: photograph, review appointment.
Your gums shrink as they heal, so the denture is relined to keep it secure. Once healing is complete, you move on to your permanent denture or implant treatment. Media: photograph, review appointment.
A temporary denture is usually quoted as part of your wider treatment. Your quote is itemised after your assessment.
Prices are indicative. Your exact price is confirmed in writing after your assessment.
Send an X-ray, or three photos on your phone. A dentist will look at it and write back with a provisional plan and an indicative price — before you commit to anything, and before you book a flight.

Not if an immediate denture is planned. It is fitted at the same appointment your teeth come out.
Usually until your gums have settled or your implants have healed, which is typically a few months. Your plan gives the timing for your case.
Because your gums are shrinking as they heal. That is expected, and a reline brings the fit back.
Soft food at first. It is a temporary appliance, so very hard or sticky food is best left until your final teeth are in.
In the first day or two after extraction you may be asked to keep it in. After that, take it out at night unless your clinician says otherwise.
Send clear photos of your teeth, front on and both sides biting together, plus a recent X-ray if you have one. A clinician reviews them and replies with a written plan, including what you would wear while you heal, and an indicative price. No obligation.
