Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that moves teeth — and sometimes guides how the jaws meet — into a corrected position. It’s done with braces, clear aligners, or a combination of both, and it’s planned against your bite, not just against how straight your teeth look in a photo.
Anyone with crowded or overlapping teeth, gaps, an overbite, underbite, crossbite, or teeth that have drifted after losing another tooth. It suits teenagers and adults equally — there’s no upper age limit on straightening teeth, only a difference in how long it takes.
Veneers change the shape and colour of a tooth quickly, but they cover a problem rather than correct it. If your bite doesn’t close evenly, veneers don’t fix that — and they can wear unevenly, or come under strain, if the underlying bite problem is never addressed. Orthodontics corrects the position and the function; veneers only change what you see.

Treatment length depends on how much movement is needed: mild crowding corrected with aligners can be finished in around six months; a full bite correction with fixed braces can take eighteen months to two years.

It depends on how your teeth are crowded and whether the correction needs to move a tooth’s root, not just tip the crown. We can usually tell from your scan which options are realistic for your case, and we’ll say so honestly rather than push the option that suits us.
No. Most adjustment stages can be tracked with photos between visits, with in-person checks in Budapest at the key stages of your plan. How many trips your case needs is confirmed once we know the treatment plan.
The biology of tooth movement is the same at any age, so no — it works. It can take a little longer in adults because bone remodels more slowly, and existing dental work (crowns, old fillings) sometimes needs to be planned around, which is exactly what the assessment scan is for.

You move into retention: a retainer, worn as instructed, holds your teeth in their new position. Teeth continue to have a natural pull back toward their old position for years, which is why skipping retention is the most common reason a good result doesn’t last.
That’s the point of planning gnathologically rather than cosmetically. We assess how your jaw closes and design the movement around that, so the result is stable to bite on, not just straight to look at.
